Echoes of Bengal
A three-minute AI short film reimagining Bengali folk tales, generated shot by shot and finished like a real edit.
01Overview
My grandmother's stories, finally on screen, without a single camera.
02Problem
AI video tends to look like a slot machine of pretty shots. I wanted to prove it can carry a consistent character, a mood and an actual story arc.
03Process
I treated the AI tools like a crew, not a vending machine.
- Script and beats were drafted in Google AI Studio, then rewritten by hand into a 48-shot list.
- Look development happened in Midjourney with character sheets locked to a fixed seed and reference images.
- Shots were generated in Google Flow and Runway, two to six takes each, then selected like dailies.
- Voice came from ElevenLabs: a custom narrator voice directed line by line.
- Edit and grade were finished in Premiere Pro so the film breathes like cinema, not a slideshow.
04Result
A three-minute film with consistent characters across 48 shots, an original AI-voiced narration and a hand-cut edit. It was shortlisted at an online AI film festival.
